Sulfur River is an activity in The ClueFinders 5th Grade Adventures: Secret of the Living Volcano.

Description[]

Joni and Santiago must cross a dangerous river of molten sulfur. Pieces of stone must be used to create a bridge. Each piece of coral has a rectangular shape with two geometric shapes on it, one on each side. There are columns in the river with shapes on them as well, and each stone must be placed so that each end is touching a column with a similar geometric shape. Enough stones must be placed so that there is a line that connects all the way from one side of the river to the other.

The Sulfur River activity only needs to be completed once to advance in the game. Completing it allows the player to travel to other areas in the Living Island while on land.

In the cutscene during this area's first encounter, after LapTrap comments on the impossibility of crossing this gap that only has 16 individual pillars surrounded by sulfur, Joni dismisses his claim and insists on hopping on them to prove her bravery in doing so, which she does until Santiago later commands her to return for leaving him behind.

Leveling[]

The activity has four levels. The content for each level is as follows:

  • Level one: Polygons must be matched with other polygons that have the same number of sides.
  • Level two: Nested polygons must be matched with other nested polygons that share the same characteristics.
  • Level three: Angles must be matched with other angles of the same type.
  • Level four: Angles must be matched with their corresponding degree measures.

Trivia[]

  • In the game's manual, this activity is incorrectly referred to as "Sulfur Bridge". The river is made from sulfur while the pillars and stones that must be placed to link pathways are from coral.
